The Year 7 students from Teams Whetu and Manu recently wrapped up their Term 3 topic on migration in a very special way. Today, they invited residents from St. Vincent's Retirement Village to a morning tea, creating a unique opportunity for intergenerational learning.
The school hall was filled with chatter and laughter as students and residents shared stories. The students had a fantastic time, gaining so much knowledge as they listened to personal accounts of migration. They heard about the courageous journeys residents made, whether for work, family, or a fresh start in a new country. This event brought their classroom learning to life, making the concept of migration personal and real.
A huge thank you to the wonderful residents of St. Vincent's Retirement Village for sharing their time and their incredible stories. Your willingness to open up about your lives has truly enriched our students' education and left a lasting impression.
