William Pike - Totara Park

On Friday 12 March, the William Pike Challenge crew experienced their first trip together at Totara Park. Before trekking inside the bush, the Pikelets (the students of the WPC crew) were told that they were not allowed to take their bags with them. Instead, they had to make their own pack from tarpaulin and rope to carry their food inside! This first challenge was tricky for some, but everyone worked together to create the most sturdy pack they could to last the day.

Once inside the bush, the Pikelets carried out a range of tasks such as building a bivvy, learning about outdoor first aid, as well as learning about the bush flora and fauna. It was an exciting first trip experience and all of the WPC crew is looking forward to their next trip - the bush overnight!
