Around March each year students are invited to express interest in joining the School Ski team.

Trials take place at Snowplanet.

A team of 10 skiers is chosen who then practice weekly for the North Island Primary Schools (NIPS) competition held annually in the third week in August.

Parents organise the trials, practices and event co-ordination.

Training sessions are held at Snowplanet on Sundays.  The skiers will have access to the snow from 9.00 am.  Training sessions will be $56 per session payable in advance directly to Snowplanet.  Skis and boots can be hired at Snowplanet.  Helmets are compulsory and children require their own ski clothing.

Trials will be held at one of the training sessions and are run by Snowplanet staff and do not require input from parent volunteers.  The teams will be selected based on the child’s fastest run of three runs.  Once selected for the team, commitment is required therefore we will be asking for payment for the competition and accommodation at this time.  Competition fees are approximately $90 per skier, accommodation costs are approximately $160 per child and $240 per adult.  Competitors are eligible for a competition lift pass of $85 per competitor.
