Board of Trustees Newsletter, Term 1 2015
Term 1 is almost over and staff and students are well settled in to school. We would like to extend a special welcome to our new families, we hope that you and your children are enjoying being part of the RI Community.
National Standards Results
Our National Standards results for 2014 show that 84% of RI students are performing at or above expected standard in Reading, 78% at or above in Writing and 82% at or above in Mathematics. The continued focus on Teaching as Inquiry and additional resources to support students who are not meeting expected standards are proving successful in improving student outcomes.
Plans for the new classroom block are with the Ministry of Education for approval after which detailed planning can take place for this exciting project. Plans will be available to view on the School web site as soon as they are approved.
Installation of some new play equipment that can also be utilised as part of our fitness programme will begin shortly. Funds from this year’s chocolate fundraiser will contribute to phase two of this project.
The new RI web site was launched this week. We encourage parents to take advantage of the information available on the site including detailed calendar and news about events taking place at School. The site also includes functionality to Report an Absence if students are unable to attend school.
The next phase of our communication strategy is to offer parents the opportunity to receive School newsletters via email.
Early in Term 2 we will be inviting parents to complete a brief online survey to provide feedback to the Board and School Management about what we are doing and to seek ideas for future developments in the School. We encourage parents to take this opportunity to have input to our School.
Thank you to those parents who have already paid their school donation in full, and a special thank you to those parents who made an additional donation. Your financial support of our School is greatly appreciated.
A reminder that the donation is tax deductible and the rebate can be claimed this year if the donation is paid by 31 March.
